A United Airlines jet plunged hundreds of feet shortly after taking off from a Hawaii airport on Dec. 18, flight data shows. The 777 fell from 2,200 feet to 775 feet above sea level after taking off from Kahului Airport in Maui at 2:49 p.m., Flight Radar reported. It regained the lost altitude in under a minute. The rest of the flight to San Francisco was uneventful, the site reported. The flight crew voluntarily reported the incident to the Federal Aviation Administration after landing and underwent additional training, United Airlines told CNN.
