MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A brush fire and smoke near Kahului Airport on Friday has prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to shut down landing operations indefinitely, the state Department of Transportation said. DOT sent out a tweet around 11:20 a.m. Officials said if planes need to be diverted, they will be sent to Kona or Honolulu. DOT will continue to provide updates about the situation.
