The Alzheimer's Association and Roselani Place in Kahului will host a program from 1 to 3 p.m. today to mark World Alzheimer's Day and educate the community on treatments and resources. For the first time, two FDA-approved drugs have been shown to slow down the progression of early-stage Alzheimer's disease. The program will cover updates on research and treatments, Hawaii and county-specific programs and services available for family caregivers, listening sessions to understand the needs of family caregivers better, and raise awareness about the urgency and importance of early detection and diagnosis.
